About your operation part 6

Q Answer the following questions about YO: Submit the 1/2 to 1 page response you provided to the preceding assignment (This will remind me what operation you chose, your role in it, etc. and so it will help me more fairly evaluate your answers to the following questions. 1. Describe the YO supply chain. Include a diagram similar to the one in Exhibit 12.1 on page 245 of OM6. The APICS Model on page 245 includes the operation and the customers. Your model should also include them. Be specific. The APICS model simply has a bubble labeled "supplier". The YO may have multiple suppliers so you should include appropriate bubbles for each of the significant ones. Use good judgment about deciding which suppliers to include. For example, if YO is a pizzeria then I would expect you to include the marinara sauce supplier, cheese supplier, flour supplier, etc. but I personally would not include the supplier of the soap for the dispenser where employees wash their hands. The point is for you to demonstrate to me that you understand the most important parts of the YO supply chain. 2. How important is the supply chain to YO 's ability to deliver the customer benefit package? Does the YO operations management team understand the importance of the YO supply chain and do they manage it well? Explain your reason for the answer. 3. Exhibit 12.6 defines several metrics commonly used to measure supply chain performance. If YO currently uses a set of supply chain performance metrics then describe them and explain how they do, or do not, align with the metrics in Exhibit 12.6. If YO does not use a set of supply chain performance metrics then propose what you consider to be an appropriate set of metrics and explain how they would, or would not, align with the metrics in Exhibit 12.6. 4. Enterprise Resource Planning is "On fleek" as the millennials say, or "the thing", or "all the rage" depending on ones age. Everything from TouchBistro (restaurant point-of-sale software) to SAP (a global leader in operations management software) promises to make the resource management task easier. Does YO use any resource management tools? If so, briefly describe them and explain whether they are effective. If not, should they? Explain your conclusion. 5. Does YO operations management have a significant operations scheduling task (staff, logistics, facilities, or other)? Is the scheduling done efficiently? What, if anything, would you change if you were the operations manager? A typical high scoring response to this assignment would be 1,000 - 1,500 words long.

The operation I chose is Starbucks. Starbucks is the largest coffeehouse chain, with locations worldwide, and the company's headquarters is located in Seattle, Washington. In addition, they are considered to be a comfortable place to relax and enjoy coffee. I chose Starbucks because it is a place I would like to work for in the future. Starbucks is a fast-growing company, and I would like to be a part of their Human Resource department. I believe they are the future; they have impeccable customer service. They also have exceptional items to choose from on the menu, from food to drinks. Starbucks allows customers to choose from organic and healthy items on their menu, and just because it is a coffee shop does not mean you cannot select items that have no caffeine, such as teas, refreshers, and blends. Starbucks also uses an application to order from, and you can earn rewards which I think correlate to great customer benefits. They also provide free wifi where you can work on your business, school, and social needs by bringing in your laptop or tablet. In addition, Starbucks is one of the companies that have a direct input in their supply chain, which means they have a say in everything that allows the company to have many products like coffee beans, cups, drinkware, teas, add ons, etc. My role in this operation is barista manager.
